Looking to get Power Query? Here's what you need to know:

Getting Power Query
Office 2016: Power Query is installed by default and can be found on the Get & Transform group of the Data tab
Office 2013: Power Query must be downloaded (link below)
Office 2010: Power Query must be downloaded (link below) and is only officially supported if you have software assurance. (Try it anyway.)

For office 2010/2013, you can download the most recent version from Microsoft's site here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=39379

There are three things you should know about this download package:
- It takes admin rights to install
- You need to get the correct version: 32bit (x86) or 64bit (x64). This MUST match the version of Office (not Windows) that is installed on your system. To figure this out Go to File --> Account --> About Excel. The "bitness" should be listed at the end
- Power Query gets updated about monthly (which is awesome), so watch for those updates as new functionality is added all the time!

Do I get all the features?
Maybe... for Office 2010 the answer is yes. For Office 2013 and higher, it depends what SKU of Office you are running. There are two different levels:

Power Query Premium: All Power Query features available for: Professional Plus, Office 365 ProPlus or Excel Standalone
Power Query Public: Available for all other Office Desktop SKUs. Includes all Power Query features, except the following ones: Corporate Power BI Data Catalog, Azure-based data sources, Active Directory, HDFS, SharePoint Lists, Oracle, DB2, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Sybase, Teradata, Exchange, Dynamics CRM, SAP BusinessObjects, Salesforce

Keeping Abreast of Updates

Power Query is updated approximately monthly, constantly shipping with new features. To keep up to date with which features have shipped, watch the Microsoft Excel blog, and specifically for Power Query (Get & Transform) posts.

Enjoy!

I have started capturing legacy versions of the installers, just in case a newer update has a bug and you need to roll back.

Please be aware that these are not necessarily the final release version, but rather the last version I captured before I updated. They were officially published by Microsoft, but you still install at your own risk and all that. :)

You can find a link in my OneDrive to the following versions as well as all newer versions:

I have Office 2016, but when I try to install the latest PQ updates, it says failed because I already have it. Perhaps Office automatically installs these updates? Or am I doing something wrong.

Sorry, missed this post! I know it's old, but a great question that does need answering. :)

In Excel 2016, Power Query is built in to every version. You'll find it on the Data tab on the Get & Transform group. It will even update automatically if you're on subscription.
