Comparing Sheet 1 & 2 Help

Iv setup a spreadsheet which contains horse racing results. There are 3 columns (E2-E300, G2 - E300 & I2 - I300 with the names of horses.1st, 2nd and 3rd.
I want to put a name of a horse into sheet 2 A1 - A300 and i want it to be able to tell me if the name appears on sheet 1. please can you help with the formula?
