Excel database need to input usage day by day and generate monthly report

Hi I got an excel file with 50 to 60 companies and each company have a number of rented equipments. Do I need to use vba to program the excel data base I have or I just need to write the program on the generating of individual company's monthly report? I need to enter the usage of the equipment for the whole month day by day depending on the request. So is there a easy way to enter the usage day by day monthly? If yes, can give me guidance on how am I going to write the program as I am very new to vba programming.

Use pivot tables.

Hi you mean just use pivot tables from excel or excel vba? Are you able to give an example where the excel database consist of company name, reference, serial number, start date and end date, rent rate, total rent and remarks.
