formula to return data from cell

In cell B1, type this:
=A1
Then double click on the small black box on the bottom right corner of cell B1, and the formula will be copied down.

If I understand correctly, you are wanting to show values in Col B based on whats in Col A , but offset by one row.
If this is correct, type =A2 in cell B1, then drag this down to cell B99, or double click as Jeffrey has described. You say you have data in A1 as well, but Im assuming that this
might be (e.g.) labelling that you dont want in Col B.
