Hello,
If I have a list of names in column "A" and I want to put them in the alphabet order without changing their surnames in column "B", what should I do?

Welcome to the forum. :)

Select the whole range containing names (A and B) - Data | Sort A>Z.

Even better: turn the range into a structured table).

Select the whole range containing names (A and B) - Insert | Table.

You can now sort on any column with impunity.

If your data looks like the following

Data Range
A
B
1
first_name
last_name
2
Isa
O'Regan
3
Mary
Laboune
4
Butch
Packman
5
Shannon
Airey
6
Sisile
Possek
7
Farica
Gorthy
8
Ross
Burgisi
9
Natassia
Cansdell
10
Lita
Adamiec
11
Art
Galbraeth

then highlight the top row. On the Data Tab, select filter
Click on the drop down button for the first name and select Sort A to Z
