Formula question

Ok, I have a monthly budget I have setup in Excel, using formulas for most of it, I was wondering if there is a way to have a cell removed from a sum formula when the text colour is changed? So lets say I have 4 cells with $10 each in them, my sum is 40 but if I changed the font colour to red)I change the colour to know it is paid) is there a way to have it removed from the total? I have been playing around but can't seem to find a way.

I believe that this will require a VBA solution. If you provide a sample worksheet (not a picture), I am sure we can provide you with a viable VBA solution.
 
Why make things difficult. Just edit your cell and add a - sign. Eventually format all your cells to change color when the contents are negative
