Hi,

Using Excel I used Get Data to import from a folder two excel (.xls) files. During the transform process I have multiple columns. One of the columns can have a number or text (data entry issues). The text is returning a null because I'm assuming the first number that power query comes across is a number. Usually I can solve this by forcing the column to be text. But this time I can't seem to figure it out. For now I'm just modifying the original import file and fixing the data entry issue but I would really like to fix my import so I don't have to. I've attached some examples that will hopefully make clear what I'm trying to accomplish.

Really difficult to analyze from a picture. Suggest you upload your file after you have sanitized it for confidential data. In this manner, we can do a full analyzation.

Have you tried disabling automatic detection of column types and headers in query options?
