Expression Error in mixtype column

I have a dataset being pulled in from a excel workbook that has been exported from some server application.


The dataset has a field that is primarily numbers as text, plus a few actual text entries plus a few numbers as numbers


I converted the type in PowerQuery to Any.


When I export this table to an excel table, the numbers as numbers cause an Expression.Error - can not convert the value 31 to type Text


This error also comes up inside PowerQuery when I try to filter the column.


Since the type is 'Any' why am I getting an expression.error - I have not asked for it to be converted to anything but 'Any'


Converting the column to text does not actual convert the numbers to text, so the error continues to appear


Suggestions???

Thanks for following up - I have gone back to the dataset and can not get the error to occur again - and yet it was quite consistent at the time - not sure if anything has changed - if it happens again, I will try to isolate it and post the workbook then
