Reference Table

Hello - does anyone know if you use 'Reference' another table, does it run the query for the table you are referencing again in your data model? i.e., does it matter which table i am referencing in my model if i am just trying to get a start date to create a dynamic calendar table? Thanks!
 
Hi cmajka,

It depends... you've marked your Excel version as Office 365, so the answer should be no, as Power Query should cache the results of a previous load when you drive a full refresh. (If you're using Excel 2019 or earlier, it didn't do this, so would drive a full refresh for each referenced query.)
 
Hi Ken - thanks for the response. Yes, we are on O365 ProPlus. However, I should clarify, this particular data model is in PBI Desktop...not sure if the same applies as in Excel?
