Every time that I move a column(s) in PQ, I see the finished product the way that I want it to look prior to hitting close and load however at least 60% of the time the updated table (post close and load) shows an entirely different structure. For the 40% of time that it appears to work if I go back in and edit the query and move a column then most times the structure pre load and close does not resemble the post load and close structure i.e the columns/fields are different in both.

Is anyone having the same problem? Any work arounds.

THIS IS A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE!

Thanks
Ed

Hi Ed,

Try selecting the output table, then go to Data --> Connections (group, not button) --> Properties. That should open a window for the "External Data Properties".

Have a play with the check boxes in there. I have "Preserve column sort/filter/layout" unchecked, which I believe allows Power Query to force it's new layout on the table.

That worked. Thank you Ken, nice one. Got your book, half way through it, outstanding Content!
