Hiding data in a pivot table

I am generating a pivot table to show costs associated with a job

The base data has entries for both parts and labour, both of these have a quantity and cost column in the base data

The pivot table is set with the machine number as the row, description (design, assembly or part) as the column and i have added the Quantity and Cost fields as xlSum data fields

if i hide a field from its description both the quantity and cost values are hidden, what i would like to achieve is to hide the cost field for design and assembly, and the quantity field for parts

is there any way of achieving this??
