I run Excel'97 2004 workbooks on Excel'11(version 14) with my Apple Macbook Air OsX.8.2 laptop. (I have never used Windows)

I have recently found that whenever I save one of my workbooks I lose some of the formatting, like shading, lines or borders etc..

Can anyone please tell me what I should do to correct this please? Could it be I need to update the Excel workbook to a newer version? If so how should I go about doing this?

I've never seen any instructions on how to do this.

Any advice would be most gratefully received.

Paul

Formatting is generally lost when you save in older versions of the program you are using. When you open up an old workbook and make changes, you'll need to Save As and change the Format to the new version (probably File.xlsx instead of File.xls).
