WordPress Eats my XML

Well this sucks... I was writing up a post on using XML to customize the Excel 2007 Ribbon, but WordPress interprets my XML. Nothing I've done so far seems to get it to post in plain text. I'm still pretty new to this, but it's really annoying so far.

20 minutes later...

And WordPress is on a diet! I found the iG:Syntax Hiliter, which is awesome. Super easy to follow instructions to install and configure, even for a non-php and HTML guy like myself. 🙂

A further 30 minutes later...

And I'm not so sure. The XML works, but only if I post it right away. If I preview it, it eats it again! Grr... At least I can get something out there though.

  1. ken, I don't know the particulars of your issues, but wordpress has an option to "check xhtml" or some thing, you might try turning that off, also some times you need to switch of rich editing option in the user tab (if you post as admin), when working with code, i if you want to embed video for example.

    I do like WP mind.

  2. Sadly, no. It doesn't look like that's the case. The setting is:
"WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically"

I had it off. Now it's on. No difference, unfortunately. Every time you modify the XML, it eats it. 🙁

Basically, it strips everything except the code for the buttons. All the CustomUI schema stuff is gone.

  3. Did you try tuning off the rich editor? It's in 2 places:
Under the user tab, its at the bottom "Use the visual rich editor when writing"
and in the writing sub tab of the options tab, near the XML option.

Might be wroth ago, I have to turn the first one off when i paste youtube code
